The cost of 12 traditional dishes for Christmas 2025
1. Kutia (950 g) — 213.37 UAH
This dish is prepared according to a traditional recipe, the basis of which is hard wheat groats (26.9 UAH per 400 g). Dried apples, pears, and prunes (600 g per 2 l of water) are used to make uzvar. This is a traditional drink for the festive table, symbolizing family warmth and health.

The most expensive dish on this year's table.
4. Lenten borscht with beans (2.5 kg of vegetables + spices) — 107.79 UAH

What influenced the final cost of the table?
The cost of the 2025 holiday basket has remained virtually unchanged compared to last year (1365 UAH). The reason for this is the record harvest of vegetables used in borscht: potatoes, carrots, cabbage, beets, and onions. As a result, prices for these products have fallen by more than half.
At the same time, some items have become significantly more expensive:
Oil — +26.7%
Frozen cherries — +25.7%
Barrel cucumbers — +25.2%
Dried white beans — +18.3%
Flour — +17.5%
Live fish — +12.6%
Fresh tomatoes — +12.5%
The calculation was prepared by the National Scientific Center “Institute of Agrarian Economics” based on daily monitoring by the Ministry of Finance of prices in Auchan, Megamarket, Metro, and Novus supermarkets as of December 4, 2025.
