There are situations when men buy tickets for women's compartments. This is due to the fact that when buying a ticket through the Ukrzaliznytsia app, there is no mechanism for checking the gender of the passenger. We will tell you how to find out if the selected ticket is for a female compartment and present an algorithm of actions if a man has already purchased such a ticket.

Which trains have women's compartments?

Currently, women's compartments are available in eight passenger trains:

1) No. 81/82 (Kyiv - Uzhhorod);

2) No. 41/42 (Dnipro - Truskavets);

3) No. 75/76 (Kyiv - Kryvyi Rih);

4) No. 15/16 (Kharkiv - Yasinia);

5) No. 17/18 (Kharkiv - Uzhhorod);

6) No. 29/30 (Kyiv - Uzhhorod);

7) No. 3/4 (Zaporizhzhia - Uzhhorod);

8) No. 26/236 (Odesa - Rakhiv).

How do I know if a ticket is for a female compartment?

When a passenger chooses tickets, the Ukrzaliznytsia system does not “see” their gender, which sometimes creates such misunderstandings. In this case, the system displays a message saying that the ticket is available exclusively for women, and you should pay attention to this when choosing tickets.

If a man has already purchased a ticket for a female compartment, there is a certain algorithm of actions that will help solve the problem before the train departs or while the train is in motion.

What if a man accidentally buys a ticket for a female compartment?

Depending on the stage at which the error was detected, the following steps should be taken:

1.Contact the conductor. Even before boarding the car, the conductor must check the matching of the tickets and tell the passenger the seat he or she should take in this particular car. If such a check reveals that a man has a ticket for a female compartment, the conductor is obliged to find an alternative seat for the passenger in another car of the same train.

Please note! Men are not allowed to stay in women's compartments, even if the ticket was purchased by accident.

2. Contact the contact center. If a passenger has discovered a ticket error in advance, he or she can call the contact center of Ukrzaliznytsia. They will help to resolve the situation by offering a seat change or a refund.

3. Reporting an error. If a man is already in a women's compartment and a conflict situation arises, passengers can contact the Ukrzaliznytsia hotline to quickly resolve the issue. In such cases, the train conductor has the authority to transfer the male passenger to another seat.

4. Warning when purchasing. When purchasing a ticket in the mobile application, there is no automatic check of the passenger's gender. However, it indicates that the ticket is available only for women. Therefore, it is important to be careful and check the conditions before purchasing. If the ticket is purchased at a Ukrzaliznytsia ticket office, the cashier will prevent a man from purchasing a ticket for a female compartment.

What is a children's compartment at Ukrzaliznytsia and how do I buy tickets for it?

Another innovation from Ukrzaliznytsia is the sale of tickets for children's compartments. This is the first compartment-type children's car in the country.

This car is available for parents traveling with children under the age of 8. Since August 8, 2024, the train with this carriage has been running as part of train No. 15/16 on the route Kharkiv - Yasinia.

The car is equipped for the comfort, safety and entertainment of young passengers. It has playpens, entertainment and educational materials, and changing tables in the restrooms. The modernization of the car lasted about six months and was carried out at the Kyiv Electric Car Repair Plant.

The project was implemented in cooperation with the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) with the support of the Belgian government. By the end of 2024, Ukrzaliznytsia plans to launch 7 more such cars to make traveling as convenient as possible for families with children.

Tickets for the children's car are available exclusively through the Ukrzaliznytsia mobile application, and the cost of tickets corresponds to regular compartment tickets of the same class. Children under the age of 5 travel free of charge and do not need a separate ticket.
