Each country has its own requirements for the minimum set of medical supplies in a car. To avoid fines, misunderstandings, and simply to have everything you need in an emergency, read our article about the contents of car first aid kits in European countries.

Car first aid kit in Poland

Poland has minimum requirements for a car first aid kit - and it's true. In this country, there is no direct legal obligation to have a car first aid kit, but it is still recommended by the Polish government to have a standard set of medical supplies in the car. And not only in case of health problems while traveling, but also in case of inspection. For example, the police or border guards may check your first aid kit during a random stop or security check, and if you do not have a first aid kit, they will at least advise you to get one as soon as possible.

The main first aid items to have in a first aid kit in Poland:

- Sterile bandages.

- Elastic bandages.

- Dressing material.

- Scissors.

- Adhesive plaster.

- Antiseptic for wound treatment.

Important! Additionally, given the general recommendations for car travel in the EU, drivers are advised to also have first aid medicines in the first aid kit: analgesics, antihistamines (anti-allergic), and antibacterial agents.

Car first aid kit in Slovakia

Unlike Poland, Slovakia has clear requirements for a first aid kit in a car, according to national legislation. The absence of a first aid kit or its incomplete configuration may result in a fine.

Contents of a car first aid kit in Slovakia:

- Sterile bandages of different sizes;

- Elastic bandages;

- Dressing napkins;

- Scissors with blunt ends;

- Disposable gloves;

- Plasters of different sizes;

- Disinfectant solution;

- Thermal blanket (isothermal blanket);

- Ammonia.

The first aid kit in Slovakia must comply with the European standard DIN 13164, which regulates the minimum set for car first aid kits.

Car first aid kit in Hungary

The requirements for a first aid kit in a car in Hungary also comply with the European standard DIN 13164 In this country, a car first aid kit is mandatory, and if you do not have one, you may also receive a fine.

Mandatory components of the first aid kit:

- Sterile dressings;

- Elastic bandages;

- Dressing napkins;

- Adhesive plasters of different sizes;

- Scissors;

- Disinfectants;

- Thermal blanket;

- Means for cardiopulmonary resuscitation

In Hungary, they may check not only the presence of a first aid kit in the car or its contents, but also the expiration dates of its components. Therefore, take this issue seriously in this country, even if you are passing through Hungary in transit.
