The Ukrainian car fleet is aging: where the youngest and oldest cars will be sold in 2025
The used car market in Ukraine shows a steady trend toward an aging car fleet. Find out where the youngest and oldest cars are sold, how the average age of cars changed in 2025, and what regional statistics show
The Ukrainian used car market continues to show a trend toward an aging vehicle fleet. According to the results of November 2025, the average age of passenger cars on the domestic market in Ukraine increased to 16.6 years, while in October this figure was 16.4 years. Despite this, the geographical structure of the market remains stable: the youngest cars are traditionally sold in the capital, and the oldest in the eastern and southern regions of the country.
This was reported by experts from the Automotive Market Research Institute, who analyzed secondary market data for November.
General trend: the average age of cars is increasing
The increase in the average age of the car fleet is gradual but steady. In fact, this means that the share of older cars on the market is increasing, while the influx of newer vehicles does not offset this trend. Even a small monthly increase of 0.2 years on a national scale indicates systemic processes rather than random fluctuations.
Analysts note that the key factors are the limited purchasing power of the population, the high cost of new cars, and the concentration of demand in the budget segment of the secondary market.
Regions with the youngest cars
The youngest car fleet in Ukraine is traditionally concentrated in the capital.
The city of Kyiv ranks first in terms of the lowest average age of cars — 11.1 years. It is the only region in the country where the average age of cars does not exceed 12 years. Moreover, in November, this indicator even decreased slightly compared to October. Such dynamics indicate an active turnover of relatively new cars, in particular recently imported ones.
Two regions share second place — Zakarpattia and Lviv regions, where the average age of cars is 14.7 years. Experts attribute this situation to the active import of used cars across the western border. Although these cars are not new, they are significantly younger than the average for Ukraine.

Sales through Diya: digital channel and the oldest cars
Analysts paid particular attention to the sales segment through the Dія electronic service. In November, the average age of cars re-registered through this channel rose to 17.0 years, while in October it was 16.8 years.
Thus, the digital channel has become one of the segments with the oldest cars on the market. Older cars are sold in only three regions: Sumy, Kherson, and Donetsk.
Experts suggest that the Diya service is most often used for quick deals in the budget segment, when all conditions between the seller and the buyer are agreed in advance, and the key factor is the speed and simplicity of re-registration.
Regional fluctuations: where the car fleet is aging the fastest
In November, there were noticeable regional fluctuations in the average age of cars:
● Rivne region — an increase of 0.5 years;
● Chernihiv and Sumy regions — an increase of 0.4 years.
The only region where the average age of cars decreased was the Kherson region — minus 0.7 years. At the same time, analysts warn that due to the small volume of transactions in such regions, even a few transactions can significantly affect the statistics.
Average age of cars by fuel type
The type of power plant significantly affects the “age profile” of the secondary market:
● Electric cars are the youngest: average age 4.7 years;
● Hybrids — 5.8 years;
● Gasoline cars — 14.3 years;
● Diesel cars — 14.8 years;
● Cars with LPG systems — the oldest: 18.3 years.
These figures confirm the structural difference between segments: electric vehicles remain relatively new, while gas-powered cars most often belong to the budget and outdated segment.
