Market volume: October was lower than September but exceeded last year
In October, 4,900 motor vehicle purchases were made. This is a third (−33.1%) less than in September, but 9.8% more than in October 2024.
The seasonal decline before the cold weather is expected, while the year-on-year growth demonstrates the stable interest of Ukrainians in motor vehicles.
The structure of the transactions is as follows:
– 57.9% — new motorcycles imported from abroad (2,828 units);
– 34.7% — domestic resales (1,694 transactions);
– 7.4% — imports of used motorcycles (364 units).
Comparison of rates: imports of used motorcycles increased significantly, while the domestic market declined
Each segment showed different dynamics:
– Domestic resales: −34.3% to September, −1.9% to October last year.
– Imports of used motorcycles: −36.7% M-M, but strong growth of +31.4% Y-Y.
– New motorcycles: −31.7% M-M, +15.6% Y-Y.
In other words, seasonality is pushing down, but the long-term trend remains positive — especially in the segment of imported equipment, which is not purchased ‘for needs’ but rather for pleasure.

Domestic market: Japanese classics and affordable Chinese brands
The Ukrainian secondary market for motorcycles traditionally shows the greatest diversity. Both legendary Japanese manufacturers and more affordable Chinese brands have strong positions here.
Honda leads in sales, followed by Yamaha, Suzuki and Kawasaki — brands that retain their value even with age and remain popular among those looking for long-term reliability.
Next to them is the ‘budget’ segment: Geon, Lifan, Kovi, Musstang, Spark and Shineray. They are chosen for their practicality and low maintenance costs.
Thus, the domestic market is effectively divided into two segments: users who buy ‘equipment for everyday tasks’ and those who prefer older but higher-quality Japanese models.
Interestingly, local brands have taken a back seat: JAWA is only in 16th place, IZH in 19th, KMZ in 22nd, and MMVZ in 26th.
Import of used motorcycles
The top used motorcycles are dominated by the same Japanese brands: Honda, Yamaha, Kawasaki, Suzuki. Ukrainians import models that were either not officially sold or have become cult classics.
The rest of the ranking consists of premium and legendary brands:
– Harley-Davidson, Indian;
– Ducati, BMW, Triumph, KTM.
There are no budget Chinese brands in this segment.
New motorcycles: affordable models from China and India
Sales of new motorcycles paint a completely different picture. Here, a utilitarian approach dominates — minimum price, simple design, cheap maintenance.
Among the most frequently purchased brands are Spark, Forte, Musstang, Lifan, Kovi, as well as Geon, Tekken, Loncin, and Viper. The only brand not from China is the Indian Bajaj, which also operates in the low-cost model segment.
These motorcycles are mostly bought for work, delivery, trips in villages, or as a first means of transport.
