Love is priceless. But when it comes to legalizing a marriage or divorce, you need to be prepared for expenses.
This article contains up-to-date information on the cost of registering a marriage and dissolving a marriage in Ukraine in 2025 — from state fees to lawyer's fees.
Marriage registration: basic and additional costs
In Ukraine, you can register your marriage either traditionally through the Civil Registry Office or quickly — within 24 hours. The cost depends on the format, date of registration, and additional services.
The main options are as follows:
Submitting a marriage application — from 0.85 UAH to 1,663.85 UAH.
In Kyiv:
Application — 68 UAH.
Marriage registration on weekdays — 2,505 UAH.
On weekends/holidays — 3,730 UAH.
Ceremony — 1,200 UAH.
Musical accompaniment — 100–300 UAH.
Full ceremony — from 300 UAH.
Date/time reservation — 600 UAH.
“Marriage in a day” — from 5,000 to 8,000 UAH (depending on the city).
You can submit an application through:
- DRACS offline;
- “Dія” portal — if you have an electronic signature.

Divorce: registration through DRACS and court
Through DRACS — if there are no joint children:
State fee — 8 UAH 50 kopecks.
This is 0.5 of the non-taxable minimum income for citizens.
Payable by one of the spouses.
Payable before submitting the application.
If the spouses do not appear for registration, the application is canceled and the funds are not refunded.
Through the court — if there are children or a dispute
Court fee for divorce — 1,211.20 UAH.
This is 0.4 of the minimum subsistence level (MSL) for an able-bodied person in 2025.
Paid by the plaintiff. The other spouse may reimburse the costs by court decision or voluntarily.
Calculation of court fees for multiple claims:
If the claim contains several claims (for example, for divorce and determination of the child's place of residence), the court fee is paid separately for each claim.
Example:
Divorce — 1,211.20 UAH
Determination of the child's place of residence — another 1,211.20 UAH
Total: 2,422.40 UAH
Division of property: separate expenses
If the case includes a claim for division of joint property:
1% of the claim price is paid, but not more than:
13,626 UAH — this is 5 minimum subsistence levels in 2025.
Examples:
Property price 200,000 UAH — fee 2,000 UAH
1,000,000 UAH — fee 10,000 UAH
2,000,000 UAH — fee = 13,626 UAH (limit)
Making payments
Before submitting documents, you must:
1. Determine the authority (DRACS or court).
2. Calculate the amount of the fee.
3. Obtain the details and receipt form.
4. Fill in the receipt with the exact details of the authority.
5. Pay:
- at a bank
- via a terminal
- via online banking
6. Attach the check/receipt to the claim or application.
All details must correspond to the specific DRACS or court.
Validity period of state duty and court fees
DRACS: if the spouses do not appear, the state duty is not refunded.
Court: a claim with a receipt can be filed within 1 year (some lawyers say up to 3 years, but the details or amount of the fee may change).
If the claim is left pending, it is possible to correct the deficiencies without paying again.
If the court refuses to consider the case, the court fee is not refunded.
Additional expenses in divorce
Court costs:
Requesting copies of documents.
Conducting expert examinations (e.g., psychological examination of a child).
Appointment of specialists.
Translations (if one of the spouses is a foreigner).
Notary services:
Certification of consent of one of the spouses to divorce.
Notarization of an agreement on the division of property or residence of children.
Power of attorney for a lawyer.
Legal services:
Drafting a statement of claim.
Representation in court.
Filing motions and objections.
Appealing decisions.
The cost of legal services depends on:
The scope of the case.

Who is exempt from paying court fees?
