Wizz Air has resumed operations at its base in Suceava Airport, the closest international airport to Ukraine. The airline is launching new flights to European cities and expanding its flight schedule for the winter season. Hungarian low-cost airline Wizz Air has announced the reopening of its air base at the international airport in the Romanian city of Suceava, which is the closest international airport to Ukraine. This opens up new opportunities for traveling around Europe at affordable fares.
New Wizz Air flights from Suceava starting in December 2025
As reported on the airline's official website, Wizz Air is stationing two aircraft in Suceava, which will allow it to operate flights to seven new destinations starting December 15-18, 2025:
Bologna, Italy
Milan-Bergamo, Italy
Venice, Italy
Karlsruhe/Baden-Baden, Germany
Birmingham, United Kingdom
Larnaca, Cyprus
Brussels-Charleroi, Belgium
In January 2026, the airline also plans to increase the frequency of flights from Suceava to Dortmund (Germany) to four flights per week.

Already 13 destinations in six European countries
With the opening of its base, Wizz Air now offers a total of 13 routes to six European countries from Suceava's Stefan cel Mare International Airport — in addition to the destinations mentioned above, the airline also flies to Vienna, Rome, London, Memmingen, and Milan Malpensa.
How to get from Ukraine to Suceava Airport?
Traveling to Romania from Ukraine offers several convenient and popular ways to reach your destination. Trains and buses provide a comfortable and affordable option for travelers, and crossing the border is relatively quick and organized.
By train or bus (popular routes):
Kyiv–Bucharest train: departs daily, the journey takes about 18 hours.
Lviv–Bucharest bus: daily flights, duration – about 12 hours.
Chernivtsi–Suceava bus: ideal for a quick border crossing.
The most convenient and affordable way to get from Ukraine to Suceava Airport is by passenger bus from Chernivtsi. Travel time: 2–3 hours, including border control.
Queues at the Porubne–Siret border crossing are usually very short, so sometimes the route can be completed in 1.5 hours. About a dozen buses run daily, and ticket prices start at ~400 UAH.
Some buses go directly to the airport, others to the bus station or the main railway station in Chernivtsi, from where you can easily reach the airport by bus.
