Ukrainian men abroad will be automatically registered for military service: what will change and who will be affected
Ukraine is introducing automatic registration of men for military service, including those abroad. Find out who will be affected, how the new mechanism works, and what will change for Ukrainians outside the country
The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has adopted a resolution to launch a pilot project that provides for the automatic registration of conscripts, military personnel, and reservists, including those abroad, for military service. This was reported by the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.
The new decision aims to reduce bureaucracy, simplify access to government services, and eliminate the need for citizens to personally visit territorial recruitment centers (TRCs), stand in lines, or collect additional documents.
What does automatic military registration mean?
Automatic registration is the entry of men's data into the military register without their physical presence at the TCC and without submitting separate applications. Registration will be based on information from state registers that already exchange data with each other.
The Ministry of Defense explains that the technical infrastructure for this has already been created — automatic information exchange has been established between the Ministry of Defense, the State Migration Service, and other state registries.

Who will be automatically registered for military service
According to the government's decision, automatic registration will apply to two main categories of men:
● Young men who did not register for military service at the age of 17. If a man was not registered at the specified age, he will automatically acquire the status of a conscript upon reaching the age of 18.
● Men between the ages of 18 and 60 who are abroad. This refers to those who apply for or exchange passport documents at the State Migration Service of Ukraine, including abroad.
The Ministry of Defense emphasizes that it is not necessary to undergo a military medical examination (MME) or visit the TCC in person for this.
If you have any migration questions, please contact specialists. The Visit Ukraine platform offers services of migration lawyers for Ukrainians who help to deal with military registration, passport issues, legalization of stay abroad, and communication with state authorities. This allows you to avoid mistakes and act within the law.
We remind you! New rules for contract service are being prepared in Ukraine — the Ministry of Defense is developing updated contracts with clearly defined terms of service, additional payments, and expanded social guarantees for military personnel. Read about what changes await military personnel and when the new contract system will start.
