In Belgium, a large-scale three-day mobilization of trade unions has been announced from November 24 to 26, which will affect key sectors, from transport to public services. The strike may significantly affect travel, airport operations, and public transport availability, so travelers are advised to closely follow updates.
Strike schedule: which days and which sectors are affected
The unions are organizing a three-stage protest:
November 24 — rail transport.
On this day, the transport sector will be the first to strike, which may cause disruptions in train services and connections between cities.
November 25 — government services.
Disruptions are expected in the work of administrative institutions and other government structures.
November 26 — general strike.
The most significant day: employees from many sectors are expected to participate, including transportation, airports, and utilities.

Belgian airports — the most significant disruptions on November 26
The strike will have a particularly severe impact on the operation of key Belgian airports.
Brussels Airport (BRU) — all passenger departures canceled on November 26
The reason is the participation of security personnel and ground handling staff in the strike. Passengers are warned that no flights will take place on this day.
Charleroi Airport (CRL) — “serious disruptions”
Users and local media report a high risk of complete absence of arrivals and departures. The situation may change dynamically.
Transportation issues on November 24–26
Due to protests, the following are possible:
traffic jams;
partial road blockages;
public transportation disruptions.
Therefore, even flights that are not canceled may be difficult for passengers to access due to transportation difficulties.
Public transport — limited service throughout the country
STIB / MIVB (Brussels)
Metro, trams, and buses will operate with significant disruptions. At certain times, service may be completely suspended.
TEC (Wallonia)
A strike has been announced for the entire period — mass route cancellations are expected.
SNCB / NMBS — trains
There may be changes to schedules, a reduction in the number of trips, and delays. Passengers are advised to check the current schedule before traveling.
Why Belgians are striking: main demands
The unions are demanding:
Higher wages — due to high inflation and the rising cost of living, particularly rent and energy.
Better working conditions — fewer overtime hours and improved safety in the workplace.
Social security and pension guarantees — the unions are opposed to possible cuts in social benefits.
Advice for travelers and those currently in Belgium
Do you have a flight scheduled for November 26? Check the status immediately — contact the airline or check the information on the airport website.
Do not go to the airport without flight confirmation. Due to the strike, passengers are asked not to arrive “blindly” to avoid chaos.
Plan alternative routes. Public transport will be operating intermittently, so make sure you have backup options.
Keep an eye on updates from transport operators. They will publish lists of lines that may be operating at least partially.
