Bukovina opens a new tourist route: a waterfall and majestic cliffs await you
Winter Bukovina is becoming even more attractive for travellers: a new one-day route has been opened in the region, combining waterfalls, rock formations and panoramic views. Find out which locations are included in the route and why it is worth including it in your holiday travel plans
Bukovina adds a new gem to Ukraine's tourist map — the region has unveiled a picturesque one-day route that combines several natural locations long loved by travellers. Now they are connected by a single trail, fully equipped and ready for visitors.
New tourist route: what to see?
The new 12-kilometre trail runs through the heart of the Chernivtsi region and begins near the Smugarske, or Bukovynske, waterfalls in the village of Roztoky — one of the most impressive waterfall cascades in Ukraine. The route then leads to the mysterious Protyagni Kameny (Stretched Stones) — rock formations surrounded by numerous local legends. Moving further, tourists come to the powerful and majestic Sokoline Oko (Hawk's Eye) rock, which stands above the forest like a natural watchtower. The route ends at a panoramic viewpoint offering views of the mountain ranges and wild forests of Bukovina.
According to regional authorities, the trail is now fully equipped for safe and comfortable travel. New signposts, information stands and markings have been placed along the entire route, helping even those who are hiking in Bukovina for the first time to easily find their way around. In addition, the route has been added to the Bukovina Travel app, where you can plan your route, learn about natural sites and get recommendations for travellers.
Local residents also proposed naming the new trail after Ruslan Senchuk, a hero of the Russian-Ukrainian war and commander of the 82nd Airborne Assault Brigade's anti-tank missile company, who died in the Zaporizhzhia region in 2024. He was a native of Bukovina and headed the Vyzhnytsia District State Administration before the full-scale invasion. His name will become a symbol of strength, resilience, and love for his native land.
