On the night of 19 November, the Russian army launched a massive strike on Ukrainian cities. Ukrainian air defence forces intercepted most of the aerial targets – drones and missiles. However, some of them attacked peaceful cities in the western part of the country, destroying several houses and civilian facilities.

The strike on 19 November: details of the attack

Russian occupiers struck Ukraine with more than 470 attack drones and 48 missiles of various types. The western regions of Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk and Ternopil were mainly attacked. The latter region suffered the most.

The enemy drone and missile attack hit two residential high-rise buildings, causing fires and destruction. Industrial and critical infrastructure facilities were also damaged.

Operational headquarters have been set up at the two locations that suffered the most from the enemy strike, where people who have been affected or are looking for relatives can go. Here, you can provide information about missing persons. A mobile forensic laboratory of the National Police is also working at the scene, where DNA samples can be submitted to identify other victims.

The press service of the Ternopil Regional Prosecutor's Office specified that the strikes on residential buildings in Ternopil occurred on Stusa Street and on 15 April. In addition, there was a strike on an industrial facility.

Ukrainian Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko noted that Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk and Ternopil regions were under massive enemy attack. Russia again struck peaceful cities in Ukraine, specifically targeting residential buildings, educational institutions and critical infrastructure.

The situation is most serious in Ternopil. Two 9-storey residential buildings have been damaged. One is on fire, and the other has been destroyed from the 3rd to the 9th floors,’ he said.

According to him, rescuers continue to evacuate people from blocked apartments.

"There are people under the rubble. We are working as carefully as possible – every minute can mean a life saved," Klymenko said.

Another 66 people were injured, including 16 children. Forty-five people were rescued.

At all locations where strikes occurred, 191 specialists from the State Emergency Service (SES) are working, including the Delta special forces, dog handlers and psychologists, medics and other city services. Thirty-eight pieces of SES equipment have been deployed. The clean-up operation is ongoing.
