Russian troops broke through several sections of the front line at once: where the enemy advanced and what is known about the situation
Russian troops have intensified pressure in the eastern and southern directions, with breakthroughs and seizures of new settlements reported in the Kharkiv and Zaporizhzhia regions. Ukrainian military officials warn that the enemy is exploiting weather conditions and numerical superiority to infiltrate and advance deep into defences. Find out which areas are under threat
Russian occupiers broke through two sections of the front line at once - in the Kharkiv and Zaporizhzhia regions. Enemy troops captured several settlements. What is happening and how the military is commenting on the situation.
Russian breakthrough in the Kharkiv region
The Russian occupation army broke through another section of the border in the Kharkiv region. This is in the area of the settlement of Bologivka, reported the founder of the Kraken unit, Konstantin Nemichev.
‘In the Bologivka area of the Kharkiv region, the enemy has again crossed the state border. The event went almost unnoticed in the media,’ the report said.
He noted that along part of the border there is a so-called ‘buffer zone’ — about 5 kilometres — where there is no permanent presence of either Ukrainian or enemy troops. The Russians are actively exploiting this situation, the military explained.
The Russian army has also made some advances in Volchansk itself.
Nemichev noted that Russia plans to connect the groups in Volchansk and Dvurechna. The above actions may be part of preparations for new offensive operations.
‘In my opinion, if the enemy fails to take Kupiansk, it will most likely shift its forces to this direction. We need to act and strengthen our defences while there is still time,’ added the founder of the Kraken unit.
Breakthrough in the Zaporizhzhia region
As Senior Lieutenant Alex of the Defence Forces writes on Telegram, Ukrainian troops are reporting significant advances by the Russian army in the Huliaipole area of the Zaporizhzhia region. Problems in this section of the front have been discussed for a long time, but the response to them is only beginning now, when ‘the disaster is already difficult to hide.’
He recalled how in 2024, when the Russians began to advance on Velyka Novosilka and the surrounding areas, he predicted that it would be strategically more advantageous for them to bypass the fortifications built over the past year, in particular through Huliaipole, rather than attack Orikhiv head-on.
‘Alex’ noted that although such tactics by the Russians were predictable, there was no effective response at the time. He warned that if this continues, the consequences will be dire.
‘The enemy is not using complex tactics, mass attacks with troops or equipment, it is simply taking advantage of the situation we ourselves have created,’ the senior lieutenant emphasised.
The intensification of Russian troops in the Zaporizhzhia region was also confirmed by the commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi. He noted that the occupiers are attacking, using weather conditions — thick fog — to infiltrate between the positions of Ukrainian troops. The situation has become significantly more complicated in the Oleksandrivka and Huliaipole directions, where, taking advantage of its numerical superiority in forces and resources, the enemy has advanced during fierce fighting and captured three settlements.
The DeepState monitoring service, which analyses the situation on the front line, also reports that the Russian army has occupied Rivnopillia and Yablukove in the east of the Zaporizhzhia region.
Reminder! Russia is using 9M729 missiles against Ukraine — a secret weapon that once caused the US to withdraw from the treaty on the elimination of medium- and short-range missiles. These long-range cruise missiles are capable of hitting targets not only in Ukraine, but throughout Europe. Find out what this missile is and why it is dangerous.
