By the end of the year, the railway company PKP Intercity will launch 17 new international routes. Among them are additional flights to Ukraine, which will become part of the updated schedule that comes into effect on 14 December. This was reported by the publication Sektor kolejowy with reference to the Polish carrier.

New destinations will appear not only within the country, but also in international traffic. For the first time, PKP Intercity will start running to Leipzig and will also increase the frequency of trains to Berlin, Vienna and Prague. After the changes, the total number of international flights will reach 57 trains, which is 17 more than in the current schedule.

New routes between Poland and Ukraine

Increased demand for transport between Poland and Ukraine has been the main stimulus for expanding cooperation between PKP Intercity and Ukrzaliznytsia. According to the new schedule, three additional routes will appear, connecting Ukrainian and Polish cities.

The first of these is the Chełm-Kharkiv train, which will pass through the Dorohusk-Yagodin border crossing. Two more new flights from Przemyśl to Kharkiv will run through the Medyka-Mostyska crossing.

After the new schedule is introduced, the number of train pairs between the countries will increase from 10 to 13, and departure times will be evenly distributed throughout the day. This will allow passengers to choose more convenient travel options and reduce waiting times at transfers.

Reminder! In Ukraine, there has been an increase in false reports of train bombings, forcing passengers to leave trains in the middle of the road and wait for hours for inspections. These incidents cause traffic disruptions and create a tense atmosphere among travellers. Find out what to do in such a situation, what to take with you, and how to keep yourself safe during a forced evacuation.
