Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, Germany has received the largest number of Ukrainian refugees, which has led to overcrowding in large cities and camps even in remote regions. This is reported by uahelp.wiki.

From the camps of initial reception, refugees are being resettled in permanent housing, but even there are not enough places for everyone. Several camps are already overcrowded and have stopped accepting new refugees. In this regard, some federal states are trying to provide shelter for Ukrainians in December.

Here's a look at which German states still have the ability to accept refugees in December.

German states that continue to accept Ukrainians in December: the list

Berlin:

Tegel (former airport) is the main point of initial reception, from there the refugees are sent throughout Germany. The area is closed, accessible only by special bus. If you are traveling by car, you will need to leave your vehicle in the parking lot outside and take the bus inside.

Baden-Württemberg:

Karlsruhe (Durlacher Allee 100, 76137 Karlsruhe) - refuses to accommodate those arriving by car and those with pets larger than a cat.

Meßstetten (Geißbühlstraße 51, 72469 Meßstetten) - difficult to reach by public transport; only those with a car are accepted and those with large dogs or fighting breeds are refused.

Freiburg (Basler Landstraße 16, 79111 Freiburg) - this camp does not accept people in need of medical care or special care. Only people with small animals are accepted here, which must remain with their owners during the entire stay, and dogs are kept on a leash at all times.

Bavaria:

Munich (Dachauer Str. 122a, 80637 München) - from here people are resettled throughout Bavaria. They accept those who have small pets.

Ankerzentrum reception centers - before you go, it is important to get accurate information about availability. Contact information for your reference:

Hesse:

Gießen (Rödgener Straße 59-61, 35394 Gießen Ankunftshalle) - it is recommended to arrive before 20:00 on weekdays, otherwise you will need to wait.In case you arrive late and without a car, it is recommended to contact the Bahnhofsmission in Frankfurt. They may be able to provide shelter for one night.

North Rhine-Westphalia:

Bochum (Gersteinring 50, 44791 Bochum Erstaaufnahmeeinrichtung).

Saarland Lebach (Schlesierallee 17, 66822 Lebach).

Thuringia:

 Hermsdorf (Max-Hellermann-Straße 15).

In November, the reception camps in Saxony and Lower Saxony were closed. Refugees are warned that the conditions in these camps do not differ significantly, which may discourage them from seeking alternative accommodation. Therefore, it is recommended to choose locations that are easier to reach.
