Ukraine has changed the timetable for over 100 trains: details

From 22 January, Ukrzaliznytsia is making major changes to the train schedule — the schedules of more than 100 trains, including suburban ones, have been revised. This was reported by the company.

What is the reason for the schedule update?

According to Ukrzaliznytsia, the update is due to several factors. First and foremost, it is due to increased traffic on the Fastiv section, which was damaged as a result of enemy attacks in December. In addition, some of the changes were made for safety reasons on certain routes.

The company notes that revising more than 100 schedules across the country will allow it to ‘unload’ the busiest sections of the railway and reduce the number of train delays en route.

When will trains start running according to the new schedule?

Trains will start running according to the updated schedule on the night of 21 to 22 January. The current suburban train schedules have already been published on the carrier's official website.

UZ separately draws passengers' attention to the fact that when buying tickets and planning trips, it is important to check the date of the timetable's validity — it should be indicated as ‘valid from 22.01.2026’.

At the same time, the company warns that until traffic is fully stabilised, train delays of 1-2 hours are possible. Their duration will depend on the current load on the Fastiv section. Ukrainian Railways asks passengers to be understanding in advance.

When planning trips to the Carpathians or other regions of Ukraine, it is worth checking ticket availability and possible route options in advance. You can conveniently compare trains and buses and immediately book tickets for all types of transport through the Visit Ukraine booking system. This helps you quickly find the best travel option and plan your trip without unnecessary delays.

Reminder! Winter weather is once again testing the resilience of Ukraine's transport system and changing the usual travel routes. Heavy snowfall and blizzards have complicated traffic in the western regions, forcing passengers to look for more reliable ways to reach their destinations. Find out how Ukrzaliznytsia is strengthening connections with the Carpathian region.
