KACPU centers in the Czech Republic working hours during the Christmas and New Year holidays 2025–2026
During the holiday season in the Czech Republic, the working hours of Ukrainian assistance centers change. Find out when KACPU will be closed, on which days there may be limited reception, and how to plan your document submission without any risks
During the Christmas and New Year holidays in the Czech Republic, the working hours of state institutions traditionally change. This also applies to the Regional Assistance Centers for Ukraine (KACPU), which deal with the registration of temporary protection and provide consultations for Ukrainian citizens. In 2025–2026, the centers will operate according to a special holiday schedule, which is important to consider when planning visits.
Below is a detailed and structured overview of the changes in KACPU's work to avoid queues, missed appointments, and misunderstandings.
What is KACPU and why is it important to know their schedule
Regional Assistance Centers for Ukraine (KACPU) are local institutions in the Czech Republic where Ukrainians can:
● apply for or extend temporary protection;
● receive migration and social counseling;
● submit documents related to legal residence.
The centers operate in various regions of the country, including Prague, Brno, Ostrava, Plzeň, Karlovy Vary, and other cities. During the holidays, their working hours may differ significantly from the standard schedule.

Period of changed KACPU working hours
The holiday schedule will be in effect from December 22, 2025, to January 2, 2026. During this time, the centers will either be closed or will operate on a reduced schedule.
Days when all KACPU centers are closed
On the dates listed below, no visitors will be accepted at any center:
● December 24, 2025 — Christmas Eve
● December 25, 2025 — Christmas
● December 26, 2025 — public holiday
● January 1, 2026 — New Year's Day
On these days, it will not be possible to submit documents or receive consultations.
Centers' work at the end of December and beginning of January
As of the end of December, the schedule is as follows:
● December 30, 2025 (Tuesday) — limited work possible. Some centers may accept documents and provide consultations, but on a reduced schedule.
● December 31, 2025 (Wednesday) — also limited operation. Often, documents are accepted for only a few hours or according to a separate schedule.
● January 2, 2026 (Friday) — shortened working day. Centers may be open, but not for the entire day.
Important: The format of work on these days varies depending on the city and the specific center.
When will KACPU return to normal operation?
From January 5, 2026, all KACPU centers will resume their standard work schedule without holiday restrictions.
What does this mean for Ukrainians in the Czech Republic?
If you have scheduled to submit documents, have an appointment, or your temporary protection is expiring and your visit is scheduled for December 30 or 31, be sure to:
● check the current schedule for your specific center (Prague, Brno, Ostrava, etc.);
● confirm the opening hours on the official website or by phone.
During the holiday period, even on weekdays, working hours may be reduced or changed.
Helpful tip: holidays mean increased workload and non-standard schedules, so it is better to plan any migration issues in advance. If you are unsure about your actions, deadlines, or document package, it is advisable to consult with specialists.
The Visit Ukraine platform offers the services of immigration lawyers who help Ukrainians in the Czech Republic understand temporary protection, deadlines for submitting documents, and the legal nuances of their stay.
We remind you! Ukrainians who are in the Czech Republic under temporary protection (ZDP) must be aware of the rules for registering a car to avoid fines and problems with the law. Read how Ukrainians with ZDP can register a car in the Czech Republic.
