Free tickets for the UZ-3000: which trains are more popular

Tens of thousands of tickets have already been issued under the UZ-3000 programme, and some destinations have become the most popular among passengers. Find out which trains are chosen most often

Ukrainians are actively taking advantage of the opportunity to travel by train for free as part of the ‘3,000 km across Ukraine’ programme. In a short period of time, passengers have already purchased about 40,000 tickets, and demand continues to grow, said Minister of Community Development and Transport Oleksiy Kuleba. The initiative allows people to travel around the country, supporting the mobility of citizens, especially in regions where it is most important right now.

Which destinations have become the most popular

According to the Ministry of Community and Territorial Development, Ukrainians most often purchase free tickets for the following routes:

▪️ Fastiv – Konotop

▪️ Odesa – Zaporizhzhia

▪️ Kyiv / Zhmerynka – Shostka

▪️ Zaporizhzhia – Lviv

▪️ Sumy – Rakhiv

These are mainly routes connecting major transport hubs and cities close to the frontline regions or logistically important for residents of the east, centre and south of the country.

When can you take advantage of free travel?

Currently, the programme operates during off-peak periods, which allows for an even distribution of passenger traffic without overloading trains during periods of peak demand. Particular emphasis is placed on supporting routes in frontline and war-affected communities.

According to government officials, there are plans to expand and scale the programme to the entire country in the future. Outside of the peak season, Ukrzaliznytsia is ready to provide up to 250,000 seats per month, which could significantly increase the number of people who can take advantage of free travel.

Tip: during periods of increased passenger traffic, it is worth planning your trips in advance and considering alternative routes.
