A major update is coming to US immigration policy: President Donald Trump has officially announced the launch of a new visa called the ‘Golden Card.’ This programme is aimed at attracting wealthy investors and valuable specialists who are ready to make a financial or professional contribution to the country's economy. Since its presentation at the Round Table, the official portal trumpcard.gov has already been launched, where applicants can submit applications and receive instructions.

What is the ‘Trump Gold Card’?

According to CNN, the new visa allows foreign citizens to expedite the processing of their American visa if they make a significant financial contribution.

The main features of the programme are as follows:

▪️ Applicants can expedite the processing of their visa by contributing $1 million.

▪️ Employers can sponsor foreign employees for £2 million, ensuring priority processing.

▪️ The visa is positioned as a tool for attracting people who can benefit the US, from investments to unique skills.

At the same time, the US authorities reserve the right to refuse to issue a visa if there are risks to national security. Each candidate is required to attend an interview and submit a package of documents within the specified time frame. The programme's website specifies that the application will take several weeks to process, which is significantly faster than the standard immigration process.

Who will be eligible for the new visa

The programme is aimed at high-income individuals, entrepreneurs, investors and professionals who can prove their value to the US economy. The formal requirements are still being finalised, but it is already known that the key indicator will be the contribution — financial or professional — to the country's development.

Platinum Card: another new feature

At the same time, an advanced version of the programme has been prepared — the ‘Trump Platinum Card’. It has not yet been launched, but registration for those interested is available on the website.

This card will offer extended opportunities:

▪️ the right to stay in the US for up to 270 days a year;

▪️ no obligation to pay taxes on income earned outside the United States;

▪️ replacement of classic tourist visas with a more flexible stay regime.
