The State Enterprise “Forests of Ukraine” announced the official start of the Christmas tree sales season. In 2025, Ukrainians can purchase live coniferous trees at social, almost unchanged prices — from 210 to 280 hryvnia, depending on the species and region.

Forestry has already sold about 10,000 trees, and by the end of the season, they plan to sell about 140,000 Christmas trees, just like last year. This is a stable indicator that demonstrates both the demand for live trees and the willingness of state farms to supply the market with legal products.

Where do Christmas trees grow and how are prices formed?

The State Enterprise “Forests of Ukraine” has created special New Year's plantations — 2,700 hectares, on which 7.8 million coniferous trees are grown. Unlike natural forests, where Christmas trees often have an uneven shape, trees are planted at equal distances on plantations. This ensures proper growth, uniform branches, and the “classic” symmetrical shape that buyers are looking for.

Christmas trees can also be harvested during forest formation and restoration logging — this is a regulated practice that does not harm the ecosystem and allows for more effective care of the forest fund.

How much will Christmas trees cost in 2025?

In 2025, prices will remain affordable and will hardly change compared to last year:

● Conifers (pine, spruce on plantations): from 210 to 250 UAH

● Spruce/fir (classic Christmas trees): from 240 to 280 UAH

The cost is determined by:

● cultivation costs,

● logistics,

● regional characteristics,

● demand in a particular area.

Regions with the cheapest and most expensive Christmas trees

The price of a Christmas tree depends significantly on where it is grown and the cost of delivery.

The cheapest Christmas trees are in the forested regions of the North and Polissya: Volyn, Rivne, Zhytomyr, and Chernihiv. This is where there are the most coniferous plantations, so the cost of logistics is lower and the supply is wider.

Higher prices are found in regions with fewer forest resources: in the east and south of Ukraine near large cities (Dnipro, Odesa, Mykolaiv).

Where is the best place to buy a Christmas tree?

Experts remind us that the most reliable way to buy a legal Christmas tree is to purchase it directly from a forestry office or at official sales points of the State Enterprise “Forests of Ukraine.” This way, you get:

● guaranteed quality,

● confirmed origin,

● protection from poaching,

● a fair price without markups.

Official Christmas trees must have a tag or chip confirming their legal origin. You can check the legality of a Christmas tree through a special website.
