Preparations for the festive winter season have started in Lviv with the installation of the city's main Christmas tree. The installation continues on the square in front of the Opera House, where the main festive location opens every year. The official lighting of the lights is scheduled for the evening of December 5, so Lviv residents and guests will be able to plunge into the festive atmosphere very soon. According to the city authorities, this year's tree has its own history and will become a symbol of unity and tradition that the community has been supporting for many years.

Lviv's main Christmas tree: who donated the tree and what it will look like this year

This year's Christmas tree was donated to the city by the Pashechko family from the village of Sokilnyky. The tree has been grown for over 18 years and is about 14 meters high. Lviv has not purchased a main Christmas tree for many years: it is donated by residents of the city and surrounding communities, and the existing structures and last year's illumination are used for installation. This allows them to avoid spending budget funds on installation and decoration.

This year, more than 15 trees were nominated for the role of the main New Year's beauty, among which experts chose the best option in terms of shape and condition. The city council reminded that this tradition has been in place for several years: last year, the Pidvirnyi family from the village of Birky presented the tree to the city, and it was about 16 meters high.
