Ukrainian youth are celebrating Student Day 2025 not only in a festive atmosphere, but also with significant news in the field of education.

As is well known, the government has increased presidential scholarships from September 1, 2025, and the Trade Union of Education and Science Workers of Ukraine has announced a planned increase in academic scholarships as early as 2026. These decisions significantly change the system of financial support for students.

Student Day in Ukraine: a holiday that brings good news to students

In Ukraine, Student Day is celebrated every year on November 17, a date that symbolizes freedom, the power of youth, and the pursuit of knowledge. In 2025, this holiday became an informational occasion for important updates regarding scholarships and state support for students.

Increase in presidential scholarships: what amounts will be in effect from September 1, 2025?

From September 1, 2025, the government has significantly increased presidential scholarships for the most successful students. This decision aims to stimulate quality education and support talented young people at all levels of education.

New amounts of presidential scholarships:

University students:

📌 10,000 UAH per month

📌 10,000 UAH per year — for those who scored 185+ points on the NMT

Technical school and college students:

📌 7,600 UAH per month

Vocational school students:

📌 6,320 UAH per month

These amounts are the highest in the history of presidential scholarships.

Who is eligible for an increased scholarship?

1. For university students

The presidential scholarship is awarded for high academic achievement, outstanding results in science, or active participation in international educational projects.

2. For applicants with high scores

Students who have been admitted and have 185 or more NMT points receive a one-time payment of 10,000 UAH per year.

3. For college and technical school students

Payments have increased to UAH 7,600, which is significant support for young people in secondary vocational education.

4. For vocational school students

A scholarship of UAH 6,320 is intended to promote the development of vocational education and attract young people to blue-collar professions.

Academic scholarships: what will remain unchanged and what will change in 2026?

As of 2025, regular academic scholarships remain at around UAH 2,100.

However, the teachers' union has announced that

in 2026, the government plans to double academic scholarships.

The increase will cover more than 163,000 students, which will significantly improve their financial security.

This means that next year will be crucial for the entire student payment system.
