Ukraine has passed a law that will significantly increase state support for families with children. Starting on 1 January 2026, parents will be able to count on increased payments for the birth of a child and new assistance programmes for children of all ages. Find out what amounts are provided for and who is eligible for additional assistance
State payments for families with children will increase significantly in Ukraine. On 5 November, the Verkhovna Rada adopted bill No. 13532, which provides for an increase in benefits from 1 January 2026. The aim of the initiative is to strengthen social support for parents, stimulate the birth rate and help families combine raising children with work.
New child benefits
According to the document, the amount of one-time childbirth assistance will be 50,000 hryvnia. This is the first significant increase in recent years: previously, parents received 41,280 hryvnia, and the payment had not been indexed since 2014. Now its size has increased by almost a quarter.
For uninsured persons, pregnancy and childbirth assistance is provided in the amount of UAH 7,000. Also, from 2026, families will still be able to choose between in-kind assistance (the ‘Baby Package’) or cash compensation.
Additional assistance for caring for a child under 1 year of age will be UAH 7,000 per month. Parents of children born in 2025 will also be eligible for this assistance if the child is under one year of age when the law comes into force. These parents will also receive the old payments of 860 hryvnia per month until the child reaches one year of age.

New support programmes
The government initiative also introduces new areas of financial support for families with children:
The ‘eYasla’ programme
8,000 UAH for childcare for children aged 2 to 3 years if the mother or other legal representative goes to work.
The ‘eSadok’ programme
(to be launched in 2028) — 8,000 UAH per month if there are no places available in municipal kindergartens.
‘Schoolchild Package’ assistance
5,000 UAH one-time payment for first-graders.
Assistance for parents raising children with disabilities
For children with disabilities, all types of assistance will be calculated with a multiplier of 1.5, which will increase their amount by 50%.
The bill aims to provide long-term support to young parents and strengthen Ukraine's social system. The increase in payments will allow families to partially offset rising prices and ease the cost of childcare. According to the initiators, these measures should serve as an incentive to improve the demographic situation and create more comfortable conditions for raising children.
Reminder! A new winter support programme is being launched in Ukraine. This step will be part of a set of government initiatives aimed at supporting the population during the cold season. Find out who is eligible for the payment, how to apply and when the funds will be credited.
