How much money do you need to enter Poland?

Poland remains one of the most accessible and popular European countries for Ukrainians. However, before travelling, it is important to know what financial requirements border guards impose and what documents you need to have with you. Find out what minimum amount you need to show when entering Poland and in what cases you can do without proof of funds

Poland remains one of the most popular destinations for Ukrainians — they come here for work, study or just to travel. However, to cross the border, it is important to confirm that you have sufficient funds to cover your living expenses.

Minimum amount required to enter Poland

The amount required depends on the length of your stay. For a short stay — up to four days — you need to have at least 300 zlotys. If you are staying longer, calculate 75 zlotys for each day of your stay.

For example, for a ten-day trip, you will need approximately 750 zlotys. This money should cover basic expenses — food, accommodation and transport.

Important! In addition to funds at the border, Ukrainians may be required to provide medical insurance. Therefore, we recommend that you apply for it in advance on the Visit Ukraine portal.

What to do if you don't have a return ticket

Polish border guards may ask you to prove that you can return home. Usually, cash, a bank card with a statement or confirmation of accommodation booking is sufficient. The minimum is 200 zlotys if you are coming from Ukraine, and more if you are crossing the border from other EU countries or from outside the EU.

Required documents

In addition to finances, you must have documents confirming the purpose of your trip: a foreign passport, visa or residence card, medical insurance with coverage of at least €30,000, and proof of residence. Students and employees must confirm the purpose of their visit and have at least PLN 1,270 for two months.

Those who enter on a work visa, Polish Card or already have a residence card do not need to show the amount, but the documents are still checked.

Possible reasons for refusal of entry

You may be refused entry if you do not have insurance, confirmation of the purpose of your trip, the necessary funds, or if you have violated the visa-free period. Therefore, it is worth preparing a bank statement, a copy of your reservation and insurance in advance — this will save you from unnecessary questions at the border.

Reminder! Many Ukrainians have already received a residence card and feel confident living and working in Poland. However, not everyone knows that this document can be cancelled either by decision of the Uzhenda or at the foreigner's own request. Lack of information about the grounds and procedure can lead to problems with visas or entry into the country. Find out in which cases Ukrainians can have their residence card cancelled and how to properly apply for its cancellation.
