Poland to abolish income tax for families with children: what is known
Polish families with children will be able to pay less tax — the state is introducing a zero PIT rate for parents raising two or more children. This benefit will allow families to save up to PLN 1,000 per month. Find out who is affected by the changes and when they will come into effect
Polish President Karol Nawrocki has signed a bill providing for a zero personal income tax (PIT) rate for parents raising two or more children. The new rules are expected to provide significant financial relief for families and stimulate the well-being of Polish families.
Zero PIT for families with two or more children
According to the President's Office, the changes have been made to the Personal Income Tax Act and related regulations. The main goal of the reform is to reduce the tax burden on families and support families with children.
From now on, parents raising at least two children will be exempt from paying income tax. According to estimates by the President's Office, thanks to the new benefit, the average family will have about PLN 1,000 in additional income per month.
Who will be eligible for the benefit?
The following will be eligible for the zero PIT rate:
- parents who perform parental duties;
- legal guardians, provided that the child lives with them;
- foster parents;
- persons who support adult children who are still studying.
The number of children includes:
- minors;
- adult children receiving care allowance or social pension;
- students under 25 years of age.
At the same time, children who are in full-time care facilities or are married are not taken into account when calculating the benefit.

Additional changes
In addition to introducing a zero tax rate, the law also raises the tax threshold for spouses from PLN 120,000 to PLN 140,000. This means that married couples will find it easier to keep their income within the tax-free limit.
The first results of the new rules will be visible in the 2026 tax returns, which will be filed in 2027. This reform is expected to help reduce the financial pressure on families, increase their purchasing power, and stimulate economic activity.
The changes are designed to support Polish families, increase their disposable income, and create favorable conditions for raising children in a stable financial environment.
