World Tourism Day is an opportunity to sum up the year and share the main achievements in the field of travel. The Visit Ukraine portal tells us what foreigners and Ukrainians were interested in, which countries most often visited Ukraine, which destinations became popular, and what new services appeared for travelers. Find out why tourism remains a symbol of recovery and how VU makes travel comfortable
Every year on September 27, the world celebrates World Tourism Day — a holiday dedicated to travel, discovery, and cultural exchange. This day has special significance for Ukraine: even in times of war, tourism remains a bridge between countries, and interest in our country is growing.
The Visit Ukraine portal, as the main information and tourism resource for Ukrainians and foreigners, sums up the year and shares the results of its work.
A year of tourism with Visit Ukraine: what interested Ukrainians and foreigners
Over the course of the year, the Visit Ukraine hotline received thousands of inquiries. So let's share with you some of the most interesting questions we received from foreign citizens from different corners of the globe:
- How to get to Ukraine in 2025?
- Is it safe to travel to Ukraine today?
- Which regions of Ukraine are relatively peaceful?
- What documents are required to enter Ukraine in 2025?
In addition, many visitors to the country were interested in obtaining a residence permit in Ukraine.
Interesting fact: every second foreigner who comes to Ukraine is a user of the Visit Ukraine website. This proves that the platform has become the main tourist guide and information center.
The requests from Ukrainians were of a different nature. The most common questions were about: returning home; obtaining temporary protection in the EU; minors traveling abroad; protection in another EU country; returning minors without parental accompaniment.
These statistics show that tourism today is linked to issues of security and migration processes, but interest in our country as a tourist destination remains high.
Who will travel to Ukraine in 2025? Top 10 countries
In 2025, tourists from different parts of the world visited Ukraine together with Visit Ukraine. In particular, among the EU countries from which visitors came to us most often were Poland, France, Denmark, Spain, Germany, Hungary, and Austria. Among the Scandinavian countries was Norway. Tourists also came from the US and China.
Our team is grateful to everyone who chose to travel with us, and we continue to develop Ukrainian tourism for everyone — both citizens and guests from abroad.
Tourism as a symbol of recovery
Despite the challenges, interest in Ukraine is growing, and tourism is gradually recovering. For Visit Ukraine, this has been a year of thousands of consultations, dozens of tours, and new partnerships, proving that the country remains in the global spotlight.
In particular, we organized hundreds of tours around Ukraine, both for foreign guests of our country and for our compatriots.
The top destinations chosen by tourists were:
Our original tours were also very popular, including:
- “From Sophia to St. Michael's”;
- “Evening Lviv” and dozens of others.
Currently, Visit Ukraine continues to actively develop new tourist destinations that are safe for travel: Uzhhorod, Kamianets-Podilskyi, Zakarpattia, and other regions that attract both Ukrainians and foreign travelers.
In addition, our team organized three press tours during the year, which became important events for promoting Ukraine in the world.
