From 24 September 2025, electronic certificates for educational grants for students began to appear in the ‘Dія’ app. This is a new stage of the support programme, which allows for partial or full coverage of tuition fees. Grants can be confirmed until 25 October, and the funds themselves will be transferred directly to universities. The Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine (MES) notes that the grant system makes higher education more accessible and stimulates healthy competition between universities.

Who is eligible for a grant

In the 2025–2026 academic year, the following are eligible for grant support:

▪️ first-year students enrolled in full-time contract programmes who were admitted based on the results of the National Multidisciplinary Test (NMT);

▪️ second-year students, if they already received a grant last year and have no academic or financial debts.

For second-year students, certificates will begin arriving at Diya in early October.

Amount of payments

The amount of the grant for first-year students depends on the results of the NMT:

▪️ from 17,000 UAH per year — with a score of 150 points (or 140 for specialities with special support);

▪️ from 25,000 UAH per year — with a score of 170 points.

Additionally, the amount may be increased due to coefficients for certain specialities.

Second-year students will receive an indexed grant, taking into account the increase in the cost of education (no more than 12%). The specific amount will be indicated in the certificate.

How payment is made

The money is not given to students personally: the Ministry of Education and Science transfers it directly to the universities.

▪️ 50% of the amount is transferred by 1 December,

▪️ the remaining 50% — by 1 April.

The Diya app displays a certificate with information about the grant amount and conditions. To confirm, simply press the ‘Confirm’ button, after which the Ministry of Education and Science will approve the grant by order within 10 days.

What students need to do

In order not to lose their right to grant support, students must:

▪️ update the Diya app;

▪️ confirm the certificate by 25 October (for first-year students);

▪️ monitor their academic performance and ensure they have no outstanding debts;

▪️ when transferring to another university or another speciality, re-register the grant in Diya.

Reminder! The new academic year in Ukraine 2025–2026 will bring many changes: distance learning classes for children abroad and in frontline territories, Ukrainian studies in schools outside the country, underground shelters and protected spaces, as well as new subjects and piloting of specialised senior secondary schools.
