Odesa remains an attractive holiday destination in September. Find out what the Black Sea temperatures will be and which beaches are officially safe for swimming
Odesa traditionally remains one of the most popular holiday destinations in Ukraine, even in autumn. The beginning of September gives tourists the opportunity to combine the warm sea with comfortable weather, as well as enjoy the city without the summer crowds. In 2025, the resort season continues here, although due to the war, it has certain peculiarities.
What will the water temperature in the Black Sea be in early September?
According to weather forecasters, the temperature of the Black Sea in Odesa in early September will be between +20 and +21.5°C. This is a very comfortable temperature for swimming.
The water temperature forecast for Odesa in early September is as follows:
● September 1 — +21.5°C;
● September 2 — +21.2°C;
● September 3 — +21.5°C;
● September 4 — +20.8°C.
The water will gradually cool down, and after September 10, it may drop to +19.9°C. However, even these temperatures are comfortable for spending time on the beach.

Odesa beaches: where is it safe to swim?
Despite the war, the 2025 beach season in Odesa is officially underway. Local authorities have identified 32 safe swimming areas: 30 of them are located directly in Odesa, and two more are in Chornomorsk and Primorsky in the Izmail district.
Each of these locations has been thoroughly checked for:
● the availability of shelters nearby;
● the absence of mine hazards on land and in the water;
● the readiness of rescue services to respond in case of danger.
The authorities strongly urge people to vacation only on officially authorized beaches. This is a matter of safety: in August of this year, three people died after stepping on explosive devices in prohibited swimming areas.
