In the heart of Uzhhorod, among narrow streets and picturesque locations, a new artistic symbol has appeared – a mini sculpture of a fern flower. This is the 76th miniature to join the famous Uzhhorod collection, which has become one of the main tourist attractions of Transcarpathia.

Fern flower: a new legend in the open-air museum

The new figure was installed in the Transcarpathian Museum of Folk Architecture and Life, located right in the city center.

The sculpture symbolizes the mystical Kupala tradition — the search for a magical fern flower, which, according to legend, appears only once a year on the night of Ivan Kupala and brings magical abilities and wealth to the lucky finder.

The highlight of the sculpture is the ungvarite embedded in it, a semi-precious stone mined in Transcarpathia. It was named after Uzhhorod itself (Ungvar is the old name of the city), which adds even more local uniqueness to this work.

Urban Langrsky: patron saint of winemakers in the city center

Another new addition is the 77th mini-sculpture, dedicated to Saint Urban Langrsky, patron saint of winegrowers and winemakers. It appeared at 18-B Voloshyna Street, in a cozy courtyard near the Čopak Wine tasting room.

Saint Urban holds a grapevine, honoring the wine traditions of the region, as Transcarpathia is known for its vineyards and ancient winemaking traditions.

Who creates these mini-wonders?

Both sculptures are the work of Uzhhorod artist Roman Murnyk, who is the author of a significant part of the miniatures in the city. His works combine local history, legends, and the special atmosphere of the city.

Mini-sculptures of Uzhhorod: what else to see

The Uzhhorod collection of miniatures now has over 75 objects. Here are a few that are worth finding:

Mini-Svoboda — a miniature statue of Liberty on Independence Embankment.

Mykolaichyk — a symbol of good deeds on Orthodox Embankment.

Harry Houdini – installed on the facade of the puppet theater in honor of the famous illusionist, whose parents came from Uzhhorod.

Ferenc Liszt – a miniature of the composer on the embankment where his family home once stood.

József Bokshay – a famous Transcarpathian artist, whose sculpture is located near the art museum.

All the figures are located in public spaces, so you can look for them while walking around the city. Many tourists turn this into a real quest.
