In 2025, Ukraine presented a new consolidated ranking of higher education institutions, designed to help applicants navigate the country's diverse range of universities. As usual, the ranking was compiled by the information resource Osvita.ua, combining data from several authoritative sources.

Top 10 best universities in Ukraine in 2025

Kyiv National Taras Shevchenko National University once again topped the ranking, taking first place not only in the consolidated list but also in the Top 200 Ukraine ranking.

Best technical universities in Ukraine in 2025

A separate ranking has been compiled for applicants to engineering and technical specialities, which is led by polytechnic universities. In 2025, the National University ‘Lviv Polytechnic’ was recognised as the best technical university.

Top 10 technical universities in Ukraine according to the consolidated ranking:

2. Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute

3. Dnipro Polytechnic National Technical University

4. National Technical University ‘Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute’

5. Poltava Polytechnic named after Yuri Kondratyuk

6. Vinnytsia National Technical University

7. Zhytomyr Polytechnic

8. Kharkiv University of Radio Electronics

9. Ukrainian State University of Science and Technology

10. Forestry University of Ukraine

How the ranking was formed

The consolidated list is based on three independent rankings:

▪️ ‘Top 200 Ukraine’, which takes into account academic reputation and innovation;

▪️ ‘Scopus’, which evaluates the scientific publication activity of universities;

▪️ ‘NMT score per contract’, which takes into account the average score of applicants who enrolled in contract-based education.

Each university was assigned a final position based on the sum of its places in these three rankings. If a university was not included in one of the lists, it was automatically assigned a position after the last participant.
