How many cigarettes can be exported from Ukraine?

Ukrainians and foreign visitors travelling outside the country often ask how many cigarettes they can take out of Ukraine. Find out what restrictions on the import of tobacco products apply in neighbouring countries
When leaving Ukraine, individuals over the age of 18 may export tobacco products for personal use without paying customs duties, but in limited quantities. These rules apply to any method of border crossing - air, land or water.
General regulations
The amount of tobacco products that can be transported across the border of Ukraine differs depending on the method of border crossing:
▪️ By land (by private car, bus, train): usually (there are exceptions), you can carry no more than 40 cigarettes (2 packs, yes, packs, not cartons), 20 cigarillos, 10 cigars and 50 g of tobacco. The total amount of tobacco products cannot exceed the upper limit set for each product. That is, if you have 1 pack of cigarettes with you, you can take only 5 cigars in addition. You cannot carry 2 packs of cigarettes and 10 cigars at the same time.
▪️ When air travel to Ukraine opens, you should look at the customs rules of the country you are travelling to. Previously, on average, you could take 1 carton (10 packs) of cigarettes or 50 cigars or 250 grams of tobacco per person.
