Delivery of a driving license for Ukrainians in Poland

The new initiative is aimed at improving the service for drivers and simplifying the process of obtaining a new driving license for those who are abroad. 

This service is currently available for people living in Poland. This country is home to a significant number of Ukrainian citizens who, for various reasons, cannot return to their homeland. 

Registration and ordering procedure 

The order for a driver's license with delivery abroad is made through the driver's electronic cabinet. This process is as simple and convenient as possible for users. 

To use this service, you must:

• Log in to the driver's electronic cabinet using Bank ID or "Diia. Signature";

• Select "Restoration and exchange of driver's license" in the "Order a service" item;

• Select the appropriate reason for exchanging the driver's license;

• Select international delivery, specify contact information;

• Confirm the data with an electronic signature and pay for the service online.

After the application is processed by the service center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the finished document is sent to the selected Ukrposhta branch for further delivery to the address in a foreign country.

Reasons for exchanging a driver's license

The new service is designed for people who want to exchange their driver's license for various reasons. These reasons may include the following:

Replacing the first 2-year license: Ukrainian drivers are issued a license for two years, after which it must be exchanged for an unlimited license. This exchange can be done through the new service.

Lost or damaged driver's license: If a driver has lost his/her license or it is damaged, he/she can order a new document with delivery abroad.

Change of personal data: If the driver has changed his personal data (e.g., name, surname, address), he can also use the new service to obtain an updated driver's license.

Delivery time and cost of a driver's license

The international delivery time for a driver's license is approximately 15 days. The estimated cost of a driver's license is UAH 311 for the form and administrative service. This amount includes the logistics costs of the postal carrier abroad, which amount to UAH 960.

The new service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine is aimed at simplifying the procedure for obtaining a driver's license for Ukrainian citizens living abroad, providing them with the opportunity to easily and conveniently obtain the document required for driving in foreign countries. 

In addition, this service helps to improve customer service and reduce administrative difficulties associated with obtaining a driver's license.

Reissue of a document

Last year, the state-owned enterprise "Documenty" started exchanging driving licenses abroad. 

This service is offered in physical branches in Poland, Germany, Spain, Turkey, the Czech Republic and Slovakia. However, the cost of reissuing a driver's license is much higher. 

For example, in Poland, the fee for the services of SE "Certificate" is 455 zlotys (approximately 4000 hryvnias), and in Germany - 95 euros (approximately 3780 hryvnias). In addition, in Ukraine, driver's licenses can be exchanged and issued for UAH 294 (excluding paper fees).

What do I need to drive abroad with my own car?

When planning a trip abroad or already being there by your own car, it is important not only to prepare the necessary documents and check the technical condition of the car, but also to take care of insurance, because the Ukrainian policy of OSAGO is not valid abroad.
