"Ukrzaliznytsia" has announced new transportation rules. They relate to ticket refunds and baggage transportation. Here's what will change for passengers in 2023.
It is possible to return the full cost of the ticket
• If the ticket is returned at least 6 hours before the train departure, the passenger will be refunded the full cost of the ticket and half the cost of the reserved seat (previously, the ticket had to be returned at least 9 hours in advance);
• It is allowed to return the full cost of the ticket after the train departure. It is important to return the ticket at the ticket office within an hour after the train departure. Remember that the cost of a reserved seat is not refundable. As you know, previously only 10% of the cost was refunded.
Transportation of organized groups and cars will become easier
The process of placing such orders has been simplified - now you can do it online. Previously, transportation of a group or vehicle could be organized only upon prior written request.
A new category of trains has been introduced
Previously, there was no legal concept of "local trains" - those that connect the infrastructure of different transport. The new rules have fixed this term and defined the procedure for issuing, traveling and returning travel documents.
Concepts and norms have been changed
The term "disabled child" has been replaced by the correct definition of "child with a disability" and the definition of "war veteran" by "person with a disability as a result of war".
The amendments also clarify the procedure for paying for the transportation of dogs and small pets.
As you know, the last changes to the transportation rules were made in 2019, so they did not meet the current needs of both passengers and the railroad. The full list of changes can be found on the website of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.
