The science fiction novel Dune by American writer Frank Herbert has appeared in Ukrainian in audio format for the first time. We tell you where to listen to it.

The audiobook is available on the Ukrainian platform Megogo, but it is a paid service. You will have to pay $0.99 to listen to the book.

The fact is that the world-famous novel was not previously available in Ukrainian. However, now the Ukrainian platform and Frank Herbert have signed a five-year agreement.

Dune was translated into Ukrainian by Anatoliy Pytik and Kateryna Hrytsaychuk. The book was narrated by voiceover and dubbing actor Matvey Nikolayev. He is known for his dubbing roles in The Flash (General Zod), Avatar: The Way of Water (Garvin) and Nikita Kozhumiaka (Troll Tat).

Why is the film Dune the most talked about?

Probably many people have noticed that the title of the film Dune has started to sound everywhere. The film became popular because of its plot, which tells the story of space life, where there is a struggle for resources and power: something between Star Wars and Game of Thrones.

Some film critics consider Dune to be one of the greatest works of science fiction, exploring complex themes of politics, religion and ecology.

Also, director Denis Villeneuve, known for his ability to create exciting and visually striking cinematic works, brought to life the large-scale, detailed world of Dune. The visual effects and design not only demonstrate the technological achievements of modern cinema, but also help the viewer to immerse themselves in the unique atmosphere of the film.

It should also be noted that the film has an impressive cast, including such stars as Timothée Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson, Oscar Isaac, Josh Brolin and many others. The talented actors give their characters depth and conviction.

Although the novel was written in the 1960s, the themes raised in Dune, such as the struggle for resources, environmental issues and political power, remain relevant today. The film makes the viewer think about important social and environmental issues.

Denis Villeneuve's first film, Dune, was released in 2021 and did well at the box office: it grossed $433 million against a budget of $165 million. The second part of Dune, which was a new impetus for the novel of the same name, was budgeted at $190 million and is already showing successful results.

Box office receipts break records in Ukraine

According to Babel, citing Warner Bros. Pictures Ukraine, Dune: Part Two" grossed UAH 32.6 million in Ukrainian cinemas over the first weekend, which is an absolute record for the company's films since the beginning of the full-scale invasion.

The film also became one of the three most successful launches of Warner Bros. films in Ukraine in history.
