On February 11, 2025, Lex Ukrajina 7 came into force in the Czech Republic, introducing important changes to health insurance for Ukrainians under temporary protection in the country.

The main innovation is a reduction in the period during which the state pays insurance premiums. Previously, this period was 150 days, but now it has been reduced to 90 days from the date of granting temporary protection.

Health insurance for Ukrainians in the Czech Republic in 2025: what do the innovations mean?

- If you received temporary protection before February 10, 2025, the state will cover your medical expenses for 150 days from the date of granting your visa.

- If you received a visa from February 11, 2025, the free insurance is valid for only 90 days.

After this period, Ukrainians aged 18 to 64 must notify their insurance company within 8 days of who will pay the premiums in the future.

Who is coveredby the state?

Children under 18 - no documents are required.

Students aged 18-26 - proof of study is required.

Persons taking care of children (1 child under 7 years old or 2 or more children under 15 years old) - birth certificates of children are required.

Registered unemployed people - confirmation from the government labor office is required.

Pensioners over 65 years old - no documents are required.

People with disabilities - state coverage.

Who is coveredby the employer?

Officially employed Ukrainians aged 18-64 - no documents required.

Who pays on their own:

Self-employed persons.

Those who are not employed and are not registered with the Labor Government.

Persons who do not fall into any of the above categories.
