According to an optimistic scenario, the reopening of Danylo Halytskyi Lviv International Airport may take place in April or May this year. This was stated by the CEO of the air harbour, Tetiana Romanovska, in a commentary to Vysokyi Zamok.

Airlines are ready to return within a month

According to Romanovska, five to seven airlines have expressed their readiness to start flying from Lviv within a month of the opening of the skies and the launch of the terminal. Among them:

✈️ Austrian Airlines

The CEO noted that they plan to resume regular flights first, but negotiations are ongoing on charter routes. For example, Sky Up can quickly return charter flights, as the airline has its own developed network of routes across Europe.

Potential opening dates

April - May are among the likely dates. However, Romanovska emphasised that even if the decision to open is made later, the airport in Lviv can fully resume flights by the holiday season. Many tour operators are already ready to quickly reorient passenger flows from European and Polish hubs back to Lviv, as it is more convenient and often cheaper.

Opening of other airports in western Ukraine

According to the head of Lviv Airport, Tetyana Romanovska, the government is considering reopening not only Lviv but also Uzhhorod airport. Interest in this region is growing, and a number of airlines have already studied the technical capabilities to service flights.

Earlier, Lviv Mayor Andriy Sadovyi said that several airports could resume operations in the country in 2025. He noted that a political decision remains the most important step in this regard, while the technical conditions in some cities are almost ready to resume air traffic.
