The international Refill app now synchronises Kyiv locations to make it easier to find places where you can get free water, drink coffee from your cup or order food in lunchboxes. We tell you how useful this application is and how it will help tourists.

According to the Kyiv City State Administration, now the application is working in test mode within the city. Participating establishments and locations with canteens and fountains will be gradually added to it.

How does the Refill application work?

The Refill app is designed to reduce the amount of single-use plastic and help people easily find places where they can refill their reusable water bottle for free, as well as take coffee in a thermo mug or food in a lunchbox.

Refill functionality

Users can open the app and see a map showing the nearest locations where they can refill their water bottle for free. In most cases, it is water that participants offer. These can be cafes, restaurants, shops and other public places participating in Refill.

The app partners with various organisations and businesses willing to offer free drinking water to visitors. These partners place Refill stickers on their doors or windows signalling that this is the place to refill a bottle.

Users and businesses can add new refill points to the app, expanding the network of available locations to other users.

The app also allows users to leave reviews of locations visited, helping others find the best places to refill water.
