 Since 2022, the number of Ukrainian citizens living abroad has increased dramatically. This has become a challenge for consular services, which are not always able to quickly meet the growing demand for their services. In response to this problem, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine (MFA) is actively working on the digitalization of consular services, which will significantly improve their accessibility and efficiency. According to RBK-Ukraine, this was stated by the spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Georgiy Tykhyi, at a press conference.

Modernization of the consular system

The MFA spokesperson said that the information and communication system of consular services is currently being modernized. This process is aimed at transferring some services to a remote format, which will reduce the burden on consulates and provide citizens with unimpeded access to the necessary services.

One of the main advantages of the updated system is a reduction in the operational time for the provision of consular services. According to Mr. Tykhyi, it is planned to reduce the processing time of applications by 30-80% at the initial stage of launch, depending on the type of service. This will be a significant relief for Ukrainians abroad who face the need to receive consular services promptly.

Integration of consular services with the Diia app

One of the key innovations will be the integration of the new system with the Diia app. This will allow Ukrainians abroad to share the necessary documents directly through the app, making the process of obtaining services even more convenient and faster.

Digitalization of consular services is a step towards simplifying the lives of Ukrainians abroad. Thanks to the new system, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine aims to ensure the availability and efficiency of all necessary consular services anywhere in the world.
