Cancellation of temporary protection status upon departure from Poland: details

According to the country's rules, when leaving Poland for more than 30 days, the temporary protection status granted to a citizen of Ukraine will be automatically revoked.

It follows from this that the next crossing of the border with Poland will take place on general grounds - within the limits of a visa-free or national visa. Also, in this case, the person loses the right to a pass to the labor market, to social and other benefits.

Is it possible to restore UKR status when returning to Poland?

The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Poland reports that there are relevant exceptions to the rules for Ukrainians who entered the territory of Poland fleeing the war in Ukraine.

According to these exceptions, from February 24, 2022, Ukrainian refugees have the right to leave Poland freely for 18 months, while each subsequent entry into the country will be absolutely legal, regardless of whether they have a national visa or visa-free.

This means that each re-entry into Poland even later than after a calendar month gives a legal right to renew the status of temporary protection, provided that when crossing the border, the person states that the move is to escape the war in Ukraine.

After that, you can get the UKR status again in the PESEL database, which means that you will automatically have the opportunity to renew the financial assistance under the 500+ program.
