Ukrzaliznytsia has opened ticket sales for trains departing after January 22 and updated its timetable. Find out when tickets will be available, why the schedules have changed, and how this will affect rail travel
Ukrzaliznytsia has announced the start of ticket sales for trains departing from January 22. The company published the relevant announcement on its official Telegram channel.
Ticket sales are taking place in stages due to updates to train schedules and safety adjustments on certain sections of the railway infrastructure.
When and how tickets will go on sale
According to the carrier, tickets for trains departing after January 22 will go on sale during the day according to the following schedule:
● about 70% of domestic flights — available in the UZ app from 8:00 a.m.;
● all international flights — from 9:00 a.m.;
● the rest of the trains — gradually until the end of the day.
Therefore, passengers are advised to check the availability of tickets not only in the morning but also throughout the day, as some routes appear in the system later.

Why the train schedule has changed
Ukrzaliznytsia explains that the schedule update is a necessary step due to damage to infrastructure and the need for additional safety measures.
In particular, 118 long-distance trains and 62 suburban trains will run on a revised schedule. This will allow:
● to make the necessary safety adjustments;
● to minimize delays on the Fastiv section, which has been damaged and is currently undergoing active restoration;
● to make train movements more predictable for passengers.
The carrier warned that train traffic may be deliberately slowed down on certain routes. This decision raised questions among passengers, but the company emphasizes that it is a matter of safety and stability of service.
Chairman of the Board Oleksandr Pertsovskyi explained that Ukrzaliznytsia is currently making a difficult but necessary exception by deliberately reducing the speed of some trains. According to him, the safety of passengers and railway workers, as well as the predictability of traffic, must be a priority, even at the cost of longer travel times.
Ukrzaliznytsia also draws attention to the unprecedented speed of the schedule updates. According to the company's management, a complete review of train schedules was carried out in seven days, while in European countries such processes usually take up to five months.
From what date will trains run according to the new schedules?
The company emphasizes that the updated timetables will take effect on January 22. From this date, trains will run according to the revised schedule, which already takes into account the current security situation and the state of the infrastructure.
When planning trips, passengers are advised to check the current schedule and travel time in advance. To do this, it is convenient to use online services, in particular the ticket booking system for all types of transport on Visit Ukraine, where you can quickly find current flights and plan your route even during schedule changes.
We remind you! Tens of thousands of tickets have already been issued under the “UZ-3000” program, and some destinations have become leaders among passengers. Read about which trains are chosen most often.
