Wi-Fi on Ukrzaliznytsia trains: one of the most popular routes now has internet access
Until recently, travelling by train meant being completely disconnected from the online world, but now the situation is changing. Ukrzaliznytsia is launching internet access on one of Ukraine's most popular tourist trains, offering passengers access to the network while travelling. Find out which route already has Wi-Fi, how much it costs to connect, and whether there are plans to expand the service to other trains
Ukrzaliznytsia continues to expand its pilot project to provide passengers with internet access on long-distance trains. After successful testing of Wi-Fi on diplomatic flights, as well as on Intercity and Intercity+ trains, internet access has now been made available on the flagship Hutsulshchyna train No. 95/96 on the Kyiv-Rakhiv route. The launch of the service was announced on the company's official Telegram channel.
The new route is considered one of the most popular among tourists and passengers travelling to the Carpathians, which is why it was chosen for the next stage of internet connection scaling.
How much does Wi-Fi cost on Ukrzaliznytsia
Passengers in all train carriages will be able to use free Wi-Fi access for 10 minutes. For longer use, there is a daily rate of 120 hryvnia with no traffic limits. The first 5 GB are provided without speed restrictions. You can pay for the service online with a bank card, as well as through Apple Pay or Google Pay, which makes connecting as easy as possible even on the go.
Internet on the train is provided by Starlink satellite communication, installed by a project partner without investment from Ukrzaliznytsia. The implementation is taking place in cooperation with the Ministry of Community and Territorial Development, which allows modern communication technologies to be tested even on difficult mountain routes.

Will there be internet on other trains?
The company notes that if the pilot project proves to be stable and receives positive feedback from passengers, they plan to scale Wi-Fi to other trains. To this end, Ukrzaliznytsia intends to hold a separate competition to expand internet access to an increasing number of popular destinations in Ukraine.
