International train Odessa-Chisinau resumed for the first time since 2022: details
After a long break, international rail service between Odessa and Chisinau has resumed. Ukrzaliznytsia has opened daily ticket sales, and demand for the route has been extremely high since the very first hours. Find out how the train runs, what the demand for tickets is, and what the resumption of the route means for passengers
For the first time since 2022, rail service between Odesa and Chisinau has been restored in Ukraine. This is stated in a report by Ukrzaliznytsia.
The national carrier has resumed train service on the international route, which is important for both passengers and transport links between Ukraine and Moldova.
The Odessa-Chisinau train is running again
Ticket sales from Odessa are now open on a daily basis. Interest in the restored route has been extremely high:
almost 60% of tickets were sold in just the first three hours after sales began.
As of now, the occupancy rate of flights is:
61% — from Odessa;
93% from Kyiv.
This indicates significant demand for international rail service, particularly among passengers planning trips to Moldova or using the route as part of a transit journey.

The importance of restoring the route
The restoration of trains between Odessa and Chisinau is an important step in expanding transportation options for Ukrainians. The route provides a convenient alternative to road transport and contributes to the development of international connections in conditions of limited air traffic.
Ukrzaliznytsia notes that if demand remains high, further adjustments to the number of seats or train schedules may be made.
Reminder: Visit Ukraine has a modern ticket booking system for all types of transport — trains, buses, and planes. This is convenient when you need to combine several flights or when it is important to find the fastest route.
We remind you! Ukrainian international railway routes are moving to a new level of comfort. Long stops at the border are gradually becoming a thing of the past, and travel is becoming much faster and more predictable. Passengers will be able to go through all the necessary procedures right in the carriage, without additional queues and waiting. Read more about how the updated control format will work and when it will be introduced.
