How banks and the NBU payment system will operate during Christmas and New Year: working hours
At the end of the year, many Ukrainians plan their payments, transfers, and financial transactions in advance, especially during the holidays. This article contains official information about the work of banks, the NBU's SEPS, and the currency market during Christmas and New Year's. Find out whether restrictions will be in place, on which days exceptions are possible, and how to safely plan your payments
During the Christmas and New Year holidays, Ukraine's banking system will operate without days off. Banks and the Electronic Payment System (EPS) of the National Bank of Ukraine will ensure the uninterrupted conduct of financial transactions for citizens and businesses.
This was reported by the NBU, emphasizing that no interruptions in the operation of key payment services are planned.
EPS operation during the holiday period
Electronic Payment System The NBU's Electronic Payment System will operate 24/7 during Christmas and New Year, as well as throughout 2025, with the current calendar day date in accordance with the Technological Regulations.
On December 30, 2025, the EPS will operate as usual without any changes.
Restrictions for the State Treasury Service
At the same time, the NBU took into account the appeal of the State Treasury Service of Ukraine regarding the end of the budget and reporting year.
On December 31, 2025, and January 1, 2026, the SEP will continue to operate 24/7, but payment and information messages from and to the State Treasury Service via the SEP will not be accepted.

Payments for servicing the state debt
Separate time frames have been established for transactions involving public debt:
Settlements in foreign currency for the repayment and servicing of public debt (including foreign currency-denominated government bonds) through the NBU and Ukreximbank will be carried out until 13:00 on December 30, 2025.
Settlements in national currency between the State Treasury Service and the NBU with a maturity date of December 31, 2025, shall be made until 4:00 p.m.
Operation of banks and financial markets
On public holidays:
The banking system of Ukraine operates as usual;
The currency market of Ukraine, the NBU depository, and other systems of the National Bank operate without changes;
Customers can freely make non-cash payments, transfers, and use banking services.
Cash and ATMs
To ensure stable operation and customer comfort, banks are required to replenish their cash registers and ATMs with cash of various denominations in advance. This will prevent a cash shortage during periods of increased demand during the holidays.
