This year, the country's main Christmas tree will once again appear on St. Sophia Square in restrained pastel colors inspired by the frescoes of St. Sophia of Kyiv. The organizers are focusing on atmosphere and comfort, while maintaining all wartime safety rules. The decorations and lighting are chosen so that the location looks festive even in the face of possible power outages.

Thousands of decorations are currently being delivered to the square, and Kyiv is gradually plunging into the New Year's Eve mood.

What will the country's main Christmas tree look like in 2025?

The main Christmas tree in Kyiv will be decorated in pastel colors based on the frescoes of St. Sophia of Kyiv. This was announced by the curator of the installation project, Nadiia Tutenko. The design involves the use of delicate, warm colors and soft decorative elements. The top will be decorated with a pastel star made in the same style.

This year, the tree will be decorated with about 4,500 toys, most of which have already been delivered to the square. The garlands will work even in case of power outages. A generator will be installed nearby to ensure uninterrupted lighting of the festive area.

- A festive area decorated by patrons without involving budget funds.

The location will traditionally open on December 6, St. Nicholas Day. There will be no mass events this year, as decided by the city's Defense Council. The district administrations were also advised to limit large outdoor festivities for safety reasons.
