Ternopil region is traditionally associated with castles, fortresses and ancient historical monuments. However, the region is constantly opening up new tourist opportunities. One of these new destinations is the Hrymaylivka community route, which combines natural landscapes, unique geological formations, and sacred architecture.

The route covers ten locations, including protected areas, ancient temples and quiet corners of historical heritage. It is ideal for travelers who want to explore little-known but extremely picturesque places. This is a great opportunity to discover the true authenticity of Ternopil region in a convenient travel format.

In the previous article, we talked about the peculiarities of a trip to Tustan, its past and modern opportunities for tourists.

Medobory Nature Reserve is the heart of the new route

The Medobory Nature Reserve is at the center of the route. This is one of the most valuable natural areas in Ukraine, where the unique landscapes of the Podilski Tovtry have been preserved. The Sarmatian Sea used to spill over here, and today you can find the fossilized remains of ancient reef-forming organisms.

The reserve covers an area of more than 9,500 hectares and is part of the European Emerald Nature Network. It is home to more than 1,100 species of vascular plants, many of which are listed in the Red Data Book. The local forests are home to thousands of insect species, hundreds of bird species, and dozens of mammal species.

Main locations along the route

The route includes two key locations of Medobory:

-  Mount Ostra - one of the most famous peaks in the region with panoramic views;

-  Krutyliv village - with the trail “To the Hermit's Forest”, the caves “Hermit” and ‘Pearl’, as well as the settlement-sanctuary “Zvenyhorod”.

These places combine natural beauty, history, and the atmosphere of myths that surround the ancient caves.

In addition to the natural sites, the route covers a number of cultural and architectural monuments of the Hrymaylivka community. These include ancient churches and unique examples of sacred architecture from different centuries.

The main natural points of the route

Among the most interesting stops:

- The wooden church of St. Paraskeva in the village of Kozyna;

- St. Nicholas Church in the village of Zelene;

- The chapel-tomb of the Koziebrodzki family in Hlibiv;

- The Jewish synagogue in Hrymayliv, which preserves traces of the former Jewish quarter.

Another important location is Hrymaylivskyi Park, founded in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. It was created around a local palace and became one of the main green areas in the region.

The route allows tourists to combine outdoor activities with learning about the history and culture of the Hrymaylivka community.
