Demand for Chinese electric cars in Ukraine increased by 414%: why Ukrainians are switching to electric cars en masse

Demand for Chinese electric cars in Ukraine continues to grow rapidly. According to an online market research, from October 2024 to September 2025, Ukrainian users searched for such cars on the Internet more than 136 thousand times, which is 414% more than a year earlier. Thus, almost one in five searches related to electric vehicles relates to Chinese-made models.

In general, interest in electric vehicles in Ukraine is also showing positive dynamics: Ukrainians made about 6.5 million searches over the year, while during the fuel crisis of 2022, this figure was only 1.6 million.

The greatest interest is in big cities

According to the study, residents of Kyiv are most actively interested in electric cars: almost 194 thousand requests, or about half of the total.

Odesa (56 thousand) and Lviv (52 thousand) rank second and third, demonstrating stable demand in regions with developed infrastructure and a high share of potential buyers.

Smaller cities in Ukraine also show a steady increase in interest: more than 112 thousand searches per year, which confirms the expansion of the market and the gradual improvement of conditions for operating electric cars.
