On 1 November, the summer speed limit period traditionally ends in Ukraine. In Kyiv and Dnipro, drivers must once again adhere to the standard limit of 50 km/h. The changes are related to the onset of the cold season, shorter daylight hours and an increase in road accidents.

Speed limits in Kyiv

In the capital, the speed limit has been reduced on four key highways, where in the summer it was permitted to drive up to 80 km/h. According to the decision of the Kyiv City Council, the standard limit of 50 km/h now applies to the following sections:

▪️ Naberezhne Highway — from Poshtova Square to Prydniprovske Highway;

▪️ Roman Shukhevych Avenue — from Pivnichny Bridge to Honore de Balzac Street;

▪️ Stepan Bandera Avenue — from Yordanska Street to Pivnichny Bridge;

▪️ Naberezhno-Rybalskaya Street — from Elektrykiv Street to Havansky Bridge.

Such seasonal changes are introduced annually to improve traffic safety in conditions of reduced daylight hours, frequent precipitation and slippery roads.

Speed limits in Dnipro

The executive committee of the Dnipro City Council also decided to return the speed limit to 50 km/h on most city streets. The new rules now apply to:

▪️ Zavodska Embankment, except for short sections near intersections;

▪️ Peremohy Embankment — from Yaruzhna to Kosmichna;

▪️ Zaporizhzhia Highway — from Shynna to Aeroportivska;

▪️ Donetsk Highway — from Berezinska to the city limits;

▪️ Soniachna Embankment — from Lyubarsky to Samara Bridge.

In addition, the Central, Kaidatsky and Ust-Samara bridges now also have a speed limit of 50 km/h.

The police reported that all automatic violation detection systems have already been reconfigured to the new limits. In Kyiv, the camera mode has been updated on Naberezhne Highway, 4, and in Dnipro — on Naberezhna Zavodska, 64 and Naberezhna Peremohy, 38-A.

Violators who exceed the speed limit will be fined starting in early November. As a reminder, the fine for exceeding the speed limit by more than 20 km/h is 340 hryvnia, and for exceeding it by more than 50 km/h — 1,700 hryvnia.
