On January 1, 2026, Ukraine will launch a new nationwide program of preventive medical examinations (checkups) for people aged 40 and older. This was announced by Health Minister Viktor Lyashko. The 2026 state budget allocates UAH 10 billion for the implementation of the project.

What does the program entail?

The goal of the new program is the early detection of cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and mental disorders. Upon reaching the age of 40, every Ukrainian will receive a notification in the Diia app about the opportunity to undergo a national checkup.

“A month after your birthday, a message will appear in Diya informing you that you can take advantage of the program. You order the service, and the funds are transferred to your card created in Diya. Then you choose a healthcare facility — public or private — and undergo a series of laboratory or instrumental tests,” Lyashko explained.

After the examination, the patient will be able to consult a doctor or be referred to a specialist if any health issues are detected.

How to receive money through Diia?

1. Receive a notification. After turning 40, a message about participation in the program will appear in Diia.

2. Order the service. You will need to confirm your participation in the program in the app.

3. Receive funds. The state will transfer the money to a special card created in Diya.

4. Choose a medical facility. Ukrainians can choose a hospital — public or private — where they will undergo an examination.

5. Get a checkup. Get tests, instrumental examinations, and a consultation with a specialist.

Free medication based on examination results

If any diseases are detected, Ukrainians will be able to obtain an electronic prescription for free medication. This will allow them to start treatment in a timely manner or maintain their health, preventing complications.

The plan is to involve not only state-owned but also private hospitals in the medical check-up program. The Ministry of Health emphasizes that the main goal is to make prevention accessible and convenient for every citizen.

Minister Lyashko stressed that the service within this program is “one of the priority tasks” for the Ukrainian healthcare system.
