Trains to the Carpathians are changing their routes: what is the reason and how will the trains run?

In the Carpathian region, the routes and schedules of a number of trains have been temporarily changed due to large-scale repair work on the tracks. The restrictions will affect popular routes from Kyiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Odesa and other cities, with some trains running only to Vorokhta or Ivano-Frankivsk. From 28 September, Ukrzaliznytsia will temporarily change the routes and schedules of a number of passenger trains travelling to the Carpathian region. The reason for this is scheduled repair and track maintenance work, which is traditionally carried out during the off-season to ensure passenger safety and comfort.

Which routes will be restricted

Until mid-October, some trains will only run to Vorokhta or Ivano-Frankivsk, and some services will be suspended altogether.

▪️ Train No. 233/234 Kyiv – Rakhiv: to Vorokhta until 13 October; cancellation of flights from Kyiv – 29 September, 1, 7, 13 and 15 October, from Vorokhta – 30 September, 2, 8, 14 and 16 October.

▪️ Train No. 143/144 Sumy – Rakhiv: to Vorokhta until 15 October.

▪️ Direct carriages Chernihiv – Rakhiv and Kovel – Rakhiv will not run from 29 September to 17 October and from 29 September to 15 October, respectively.

Some trains will temporarily run only to Lviv:

No. 143/144 Sumy – Vorokhta (Rakhiv) and No. 209/210 Mykolaiv – Ivano-Frankivsk on 23 and 29 September, as well as 1, 7, 13 and 15 October.

Which trains will be shortened to Vorokhta

From 28 September to 12 October, the following trains will arrive not in Yasinya or Rakhiv, but in Vorokhta:

▪️ No. 57/58 Kyiv – Yasinya,

▪️ No. 257/258 Kropyvnytskyi – Yasinya,

▪️ No. 55/56 Kyiv – Rakhiv,

▪️ No. 15/16 Kharkiv – Yasinya,

▪️ No. 108/107 Kryvyi Rih – Yasinya.

Trains No. 6/5 Zaporizhzhia – Yasinya and No. 33/34 Kryvyi Rih – Yasinya will only run to Ivano-Frankivsk on these dates.

Restrictions on other routes

▪️ No. 95/96 Kyiv – Rakhiv: will run to Vorokhta on 28 and 30 September and 2–12 October (every other day), as well as to Ivano-Frankivsk on the opposite dates.

▪️ No. 26/25 Odesa – Yasinya: will run on the Odesa – Chernivtsi route from 28 September to 12 October.

Completely cancelled on certain dates

▪️ No. 61/62 Dnipro – Ivano-Frankivsk — 22–24, 29–30 September and 1, 6–8, 13–15 October.

▪️ No. 751/752 Kyiv – Ivano-Frankivsk – Kyiv – 23–25, 30 September and 1–2, 7–9, 14–16 October.

What will change for other routes

▪️ No. 142/141 Chernihiv – Ivano-Frankivsk: from Chernihiv on 23, 29 September and 1, 7, 13, 15 October; from Ivano-Frankivsk on 24, 30 September and 2, 8, 14, 16 October.

▪️ No. 228/227 Kramatorsk – Ivano-Frankivsk: from Kramatorsk on 22, 24, 30 September and 6, 8, 14 October; from Ivano-Frankivsk on 23, 25 September and 1, 7, 9, 15 October.

All changes are temporary and are related exclusively to the repair of railway infrastructure. Once the work is complete, the usual schedule will be restored. Ukrzaliznytsia advises passengers to carefully check the current routes and dates before travelling to avoid inconvenience.
