23 August is National Flag Day in Ukraine, and 24 August is the country's main holiday, Independence Day. During these days, Kyiv will become a hub for cultural, sporting and charitable events that will bring together residents and visitors to the capital.




What restrictions can Kyiv residents expect in terms of transport?


On 24 August, from 05:38 to 11:00, the Maidan Nezalezhnosti metro station will be closed to passengers. Transfers at the Khreshchatyk station will operate as usual. In the event of an air raid alarm, the Maidan Nezalezhnosti station will be used as a shelter.

When: 24 August, start at 07:00

Distances: 5, 10 and 21 km (half marathon), as well as children's races and Nordic walking

Conditions: Free for military personnel; registration for civilians — 1,400 UAH


Part of the proceeds will go to the TulSun Foundation to help orphaned and neglected children.

▪️ National Museum of Decorative Arts (9 Lavrska Street, Building 2) — 23 August: beadwork master class; 24 August: international event ‘Signs of Identity’ (online, towels from 20 countries).

▪️ Museum of Books and Printing of Ukraine (9 Lavrska St.) — 24 August — open house.


Concerts and performances


▪️ VDNG, VYAV Palace — 24 August concert by the bands Karna and Chumatska Shlyakh (tickets from 350 UAH).

▪️ Caribbean Club — music show ‘Golden Stage’ with the band MOVA and music journalist Albert Tsukrenko.

▪️ National Philharmonic of Ukraine — 24 August at 7 p.m., concert ‘Khoria Kozatska.’ Tickets from 400 UAH, discounts available for military personnel and children.
