What is a Green Card and what does it cover?

A Green Card is an international insurance policy that confirms that you have civil liability insurance when driving a vehicle outside Ukraine. If you are at fault in a traffic accident, the insurance company will compensate third parties for any damage, including medical treatment for victims or repair of damaged property.

On the Visit Ukraine portal, you can quickly and securely order a Green Card in just a few minutes online and receive confirmation by email. You can get a Green Card for cars, motorcycles, trucks and buses, as well as for various periods — from 15 days to a year.

Is it necessary to apply for a Green Card to travel abroad?

Yes, this policy is mandatory. It is checked when crossing the border, and you may not be allowed to enter without insurance.

In countries that are members of the Green Card system, there are fines and even administrative penalties for driving without a policy.

Which countries are members of the Green Card system?

The policy is valid in most European countries:

Austria, Azerbaijan, Albania, Andorra, Belgium, Bulgaria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Great Britain, Greece, Denmark, Estonia, Ireland, Iceland, Spain, Italy, Cyprus, Lithuania, Latvia, Luxembourg, Malta, Morocco, Moldova, Netherlands, Germany, Norway, North Macedonia, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Tunisia, Turkey, Hungary, Ukraine, Finland, France, Croatia, Czech Republic, Montenegro, Switzerland, Sweden.

Membership suspended for Iran, russia and Belarus.

Countries applying for membership: Algeria, Armenia, Egypt, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Lebanon, Libya and Syria.

Please note! One policy is valid in all countries participating in the Green Card system. This means that there is no need to purchase separate insurance for each country.

How to get a Green Card online for travelling abroad?

Please note! The policy is valid from the day after it is issued. It is not possible to order a policy ‘for today’, so please take this into account when planning your trip.
